Emmylou Harris - Early Morning Soundcheck at ROMP 2011

Emmylou Harris ROMP 2011 Almost 12 hours after soundcheck
I attended the Bluegrass Museum's ROMP festival with a small group of good friends every June for a number of years in a row.  By 2011, only three of us were making the trip anymore, coming in from Texas, Arizona, and Pennsylvania to meet there and enjoy the week together.

We arrived at the park extra early on June 25 (I'm pretty sure to make sure that our seats had survived one of Owenboro's notorious June thunderstorms that plague the festival every year) and stumbled upon a singer that sounded pretty good to us.  And she should have - it was Emmylou Harris preparing for her late evening show at nine-thirty in the morning.  As I recall, about 20 people took a seat and watched the nine or ten minute warm-up and sound check.  Below, is about seven minutes of that little surprise performance, during which Emmylou and the band go through some songs and instrument combinations.

Needless to say, it was one of those moments proving that accidentally being in the right place at the right time can result in totally unexpected events that you will remember forever.
