Bill Monroe Bluegrass Boys Tribute and Reunion - 2010

One of the things I most enjoy about bluegrass festivals is all of the jamming that goes on on the fringes of the festival.  It sometimes seems that no matter what direction you look, you will see a jam or two going on pretty much all day long, so it's easy to indulge yourself in that kind of thing either as a picker or as a fan.

Back in 2010, the ROMP Festival in Owensboro, Kentucky, paid special tribute to past members of Bill Monroe's Bluegrass Boys - and the guys came from everywhere to meet with old friends and to gather for stage performances for about four days.  And then there were things like this:

This jam took place in the hallway outside an indoor arena that was used during the festival, one of those things that just seemed to happen that weekend for those who kept their eyes and ears open.  In this group, I think I recognize Randall Franks and Roger Smith on fiddles, Bob Black on banjo, and Tom Ewing on one of the guitars.

Great memories, folks.
